Churchill Books is specialist bookshop launched by Johanna Jonsson… and what makes us unique is that Johanna is an eleven-year-old student from Swans International School and possibly Marbella’s youngest ever entrepreneur. We are the only bookshop in Marbella, owned run by a young person…especially for young people!

Go-to shop for young readers
As a self-confessed bookworm, Johanna realised that there were no shops catering for younger readers, just like her. So, the idea for Churchill Books was borne. As an avid Stephen King fan, her original concept was to create a store dedicated to this genre, but decided to expand the range to also include suspense and mystery novels that would appeal to her young audience’s broader tastes.

It’s all in the name
There was never any doubt about the name of the store “Churchill Books” is inspired by a character in the Stephen King’s novel Pet Sematary. It is also a reference to Johanna’s early childhood spent in New York, where she used to walk past an independent bookshop specialising in everything about Winston Churchill. Both shop and the name struck a chord in Johanna’s imagination, showing her that you can pursue your passions… and as a result, we have Churchill Books!

Passion for paperbacks
Johanna’s bookstore offers an extensive catalogue of titles, her choice of books has been formed by her international background, born in the US to a Brazilian mother and Swedish father, and extensive travel.
In fact, one of her favourite places in the world is The Daunt Books store in Marylebone, London, and she makes a point of visiting bookshops wherever she goes.
